Watch Dogs: Legion is an action-adventure game released in 2020, developed by Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft. It serves as the sequel to the 2016 title, Watch Dogs 2, and is the third entry in the Watch Dogs franchise.
The narrative unfolds in a fictionalized, dystopian version of London, where the hacker group DedSec strives to exonerate themselves after being wrongfully accused of orchestrating a series of terrorist bombings. In their quest to identify the actual perpetrators, DedSec also endeavors to free the citizens of London from the grip of Albion, a repressive private military organization that has transformed the city into a surveillance-heavy environment in the aftermath of the bombings.
The fundamental gameplay remains consistent with its predecessors, featuring a blend of shooting, driving, stealth, and hacking challenges. However, Legion innovates by introducing a system of multiple playable characters, enabling players to recruit nearly any non-player character encountered in the expansive open world. Each character possesses distinct skills and backgrounds, and players can opt for permadeath, which results in the permanent loss of characters before initiating a new game. The missions can be approached in various ways, depending on the chosen playable character.
